Facts checked Oct 10, 2026 against the sources linked below

The short answer: Hims is the men's brand of Hims & Hers Health, Inc.; its weight-loss program bills two things every month. A membership costs $39 the first month, then $149, and brand-name medication is extra, from $149 a month at the lowest dose. That makes the lowest total about $298 a month from month two. Reviews: 2.9/5 on Trustpilot (9,533 reviews, all Hims products). A 2026 FTC lawsuit against the company is pending, and its allegations are unproven. In 2025 the FDA warned Hims over how it marketed compounded semaglutide, which is not FDA-approved.

Is Hims legit?

  • Company: Hims & Hers Health, Inc., San Francisco, per the FDA's letter below. Hims sells to men; its sister brand Hers sells to women at the same weight-loss prices (our Hers review).
  • FDA: Warning letter, Sep 9, 2025, addressed to the company "dba Hims": the FDA said hims.com claimed its compounded semaglutide had the "Same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy".
  • Payment: No insurance, per the Hims help center; weight-loss medication is FSA- and HSA-eligible.
  • LegitScript: LegitScript's lookup for hims.com sits behind a CAPTCHA, so check the current status there.
  • Trustpilot: 2.9/5 from 9,533 reviews: 38% five-star, 29% one-star. The profile mixes hair, sexual-health and weight-loss customers. Hims invites customers to review.
  • BBB: Hims shares one BBB profile with Hers. It is not BBB-accredited, shows no letter grade and lists more than 4,400 complaints in three years.
  • FTC lawsuit: A case against the parent company is pending: FTC, et al. v. Hims & Hers Health, Inc., No. 3:26-cv-07871 (N.D. Cal.), filed July 29, 2026 by the FTC with California and Utah. The complaint alleges three things: subscription charges for prescriptions without express informed consent, refill charges and cancellation that were not clear or simple, and health information shared with advertising platforms contrary to the company's privacy assurances. The plaintiffs seek an injunction, monetary relief and civil penalties. None of this has been proven; the case is pending.

Legit in the sense that matters: a real company, brand-name drugs and a written cancellation path. Its Trustpilot score is the lowest of the providers we have reviewed, and the weight-loss complaints center on paying a membership before a prescription is settled, a practice the pending FTC complaint also alleges.

On Oct 10, 2026 we read Hims' 200 most recent Trustpilot reviews (about Sep 18 to Oct 10, 2026). The profile covers hair, sexual health and weight loss, so we coded only the 37 clearly about weight loss: 13 rated 1–2★ and 16 rated 4–5★. Its overall score that day was 2.9 from 9,536 reviews.

In r/Semaglutide and r/Zepbound, first-person posts about Hims echo the separate membership fee, alongside some reports of weight lost.

Caveats: The bases are small (13 and 16), so treat the shares as directional. Hims invites reviews, and unhappy customers self-select to complain. One reader coded the themes, and a review can carry several, so shares add up to more than 100%. These are reviewers' accounts, not verified facts.

How to cancel Hims

  1. Log in at hims.com or in the Hims app, open Subscriptions, then Manage subscription on the weight-loss plan.
  2. Pick Turn off auto-renew on my medication or membership. Stopping the membership stops the medication too; stopping only the medication keeps the $149 membership running.
  3. Make the change 48 hours or more before the next payment, and message support through your account if anything is unclear.

The refund policy says refunds are not promised once the pharmacy has processed an order; after cancelling the membership, access lasts until the billing period ends, per the cancellation article.
